New article: “All charts are biased, but some are useful” (plus upcoming speaking engagements)

I recently contributed an article to SAS’s JMP Foreword magazine, entitled “All charts are biased, but some are useful.” In it, I challenge the common misconception that charts can ever be truly neutral or unbiased, and propose that we should, instead, strive to create the most useful chart for a given situation. The article can be found on page 5 of the PDF version of the magazine.

On a separate note, I’ll be speaking about the new Practical Dashboards workshop and book (previously called Beyond Dashboards) as a main-stage speaker at several conferences in the coming months. If you happen to be attending any of these events, let’s make sure to connect while we’re there!

Tableau Conference 2019 (Las Vegas, Nov12-15 2019)

I’ll be delivering a talk at 2:15pm on November 13th.

Data Innovation Summit (Stockholm, Mar19-20 2020)

I’ll be delivering the keynote on March 19th.

TDWI (Chicago, May10-15 2020) (Link no longer working)

I’ll be delivering the keynote on May 11th.
